PCA Irish Open, show number eight in PCA calendar and very first show in Northern Ireland this season, took place on Sunday 1st of May in Millennium Forum Derry / Londonderry.
This was my local show so I had great privilege to attend it and been reporting on a day as it was happening for those who follow on Instagram. Over 120 athletes stepped on staged in front of auditorium of around 300 spectators.
Unfortunately due road closured in Belfast for marathon I came in late and missed first few classes and only saw ending of classic tall, but from those that I have seen, in my opinion probably most interesting male classes were bodybuilding medium and men`s physique short. Although have to give a mention to a Masters winners as their standard was unreal after all Wayne Downey (40+ champ) was awarded Overall trophy. Oldest gentleman to step on stage was 65 years young by the way. In mentioned physique short class we had freakish Andrzej Tomalski who that class followed by Overall.
In ladies classes there was no shortage of great athletes to mention return of figure champions, Hayley Guiseley who started in toned class but was one of the three girls moved to athletic and eventually placed third there. Also Nikki Beattie who had crowd going during her dynamic routine won her Trained class followed by Overall win. As for Bikini two ladies from team Wardy, got their top spots Stacey in Trained and Denise in Masters who btw won Overall for the second week in the row as she was crowded GBO`s Ms Fitness show previous weekend.
